    The leaf

    Reyhan is the Azerbaijani name for basil, including the aromatic purple varieties familiar in local food culture. It carries a distinctive fragrance, a striking appearance and a place in the flavours people associate with home.

    The kompot

    Reyhan kompotu, known in some contexts as reyhan şərbəti, is a traditional-style herbal refreshment made with purple basil, water, sweetness and acidity. Recipes vary by household.

    The inspiration
